October 29, 2011. was held the grand opening of Lviv stadium «Arena Lviv». This is the last of the four stadiums in Ukraine, which will host the final games of the European Football Championship Euro — 2012. The opening ceremony was attended by Ukrainian singer Ruslana, American pop star Anastaysha, French circus performers, legendary Lviv athletes and students of Lviv universities.
The stadium is designed for 33400 spectator seats placed under the roof. The maximum effect of presence on the field is created by a special arrangement of seats. The absence of «dead» zones and modern lighting provide excellent visibility of the soccer field from any point of the spectator stands.
The architectural highlight of the new sports facility is the promenade — a pedestrian space between the upper and lower tiers along the entire perimeter of the stadium. This will allow to evenly distribute the flow of spectators and improve the security system. Catering facilities are also located here. Premises for the championship organizers, players and coaches, a conference hall, an area for VIP-persons are located in the five-storey administrative building.
The project of the fifth generation stadium was developed by an Austrian construction company. It is one of the most modern stadiums in Europe, meeting all the requirements of UEFA. Its soccer pitch is covered with natural turf with modern drainage, heating and automatic watering systems.
November 15, 2011 will be the first serious test of all services of the stadium: the national soccer team of Ukraine will play a friendly match with the national team of Austria.
European Championship matches at the Lviv stadium will be held on June 9, 13 and 17, 2012. After the championship at the Arena Lviv, in addition to sports competitions, it is planned to hold concerts, conferences and entertainment events.
