Unusual museums of Ukraine

Decided to go on vacation in November and don’t know what to choose? Why not travel to museums? Needless to say, there are plenty of museums in Ukraine.

In Kiev you can visit the Chernobyl Museum, which has collected unique exhibits that tell the terrible story of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The museum was opened back in 1992 and since then it has been constantly updated with new findings and declassified documents. There are videos illustrating the tragedy of 1986 available for viewing. One of the exhibits is a detailed model of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Despite the fact that this museum is a symbol of national tragedy, it is often called a museum of hope, faith in a bright future. Quite often those interested are looking for tourist vouchers directly to the exclusion zone, which has already become a separate tourist destination.

An interesting place is the Lesya Ukrainka Estate Museum, located in Kolodezhno. It was founded in 1949 in the manor, where the writer spent her childhood and youth. The exposition has collected a large number of Lesya Ukrainka’s personal belongings, as well as items that belonged to her family. With their help, the workroom and part of the village house have been partially restored.

The Ethnographic Museum in Pirogovo. Its visit will truly decorate your vacation in November or any other time of the year. This famous open-air museum attracts a huge number of tourists every year. It is a village, spread over an area of 150 hectares. On the territory there are more than 300 different structures illustrating the life and life of Ukrainians. The scale of this museum is unrivaled in all of Europe.

Common here are all kinds of festivals, which are held according to ancient traditions and customs. Guests can directly participate in the actions, taste national dishes, try themselves in traditional games. Those who wish can get some lessons in traditional crafts. All the buildings in Pirogovo are authentic. They were brought from different parts of Ukraine and carefully restored.

In the south of Ukraine, in Odessa, there is another very unusual museum — the Museum of Sound. It was opened not so long ago and absorbed the whole history of musical culture and sound reproduction in general. Musical instruments, boxes, records and old radios — all these things neighbor here in an unusual harmony.
