Diving on the Crimean coast

The Crimean peninsula is a real natural, historical and resort-health attraction of Ukraine. Ukrainian and foreign tourists are attracted by the peculiar contrast of sea and land landscapes, dry subtropical climate, warm but not hot weather, clean ionized air, picturesque nature, well-warmed water of the coastal zone of the sea. Extreme kinds of active rest — windsurfing, paragliding, mountain biking, visiting deep karst caves — are gaining popularity among the guests of this region. Especially popular is diving — diving into the sea waters to get acquainted with the unique underwater world and its inhabitants, as well as to experience the thrill of contact with the water element. This dive into the depths of the sea became possible thanks to the invention of the autonomous scuba diver Ivo Cousteau and his friend Emilio Gagnan. It was they and their crew of the ship «Calypso» who became the first scuba divers. The creators of this unique equipment for underwater diving told about amazing discoveries and findings at the bottom of the sea, about the flora and fauna of the mysterious realm of silence and infected thousands of thrill-seekers with it.

The Crimean peninsula is an ideal place in Ukraine for diving. Magnificent nature, warm sea, diverse landscapes and reliefs of the sea floor, a lot of underwater labyrinths created by rock fragments and tectonic faults, underwater grottoes and caves, gone underwater ancient cities, sunken ships attract thousands of divers in the Crimea, dreaming to make underwater discoveries, find treasure or household items of different eras and peoples who inhabited this fertile land. But it should be remembered that only people who are healthy in mind and body and lead an active lifestyle can dive into the depths of the sea.

The coastal territory of the south and southeast of Crimea has many places of great interest for drivers. In the water area of Sevastopol on the seabed lie the remains of ships sunk during the siege of the city in the Crimean War and during the Great Patriotic War. The ruins of the ancient city and its fortress wall can be seen under water at the Cape of Chersonese. At the coast of Balaklava at a depth of forty meters lie cannonballs, left here from ancient times, and near the beach Shaitan is a whole cemetery of sunken ships. Cape Fiolent is known for its real underwater kingdom of caves and grottos. Very attractive underwater world in the areas of Yalta and Gurzuf. A real Mecca for drivers is the Tarkhankut Peninsula, whose running waters are clear and transparent at great depths, and underwater landscapes are amazingly beautiful. Underwater trips in the areas of Sudak, Feodosia, Kerch and other seaside towns of Crimea are also interesting.

In winter, the water in the Black Sea is cold, often stormy. Therefore, wealthy tourists go to the warmer parts of our Earth. Particularly popular now are resort places in Thailand, among which should be emphasized the island of Phuket. From November to April here is dry, sunny weather. The purest turquoise sea water, snow-white sandy beaches, exceptionally picturesque vegetation attract thousands of tourists to spend here rich in exotic holiday in Phuket. Diverse relief of the sea floor, a variety of soft and hard corals, underwater rocks, countless large and small tropical fish — all these attractions Phuket and the nearby Similan Islands create excellent conditions for diving.
